What a tragic scene in Minneapolis. My understanding is that the bridge has been inspected fairly regularly over the years. The bottom line is that there must have been things happening internally, not readily visible externally, which led to the horrific collapse. As a pastor I have too often seen the horrific collapse in the lives of people who externally appeared to be structurally sound. Always shocking. I am tired of being shocked. I so much want to lead a community of faith where relationships do more than poke around the surface and assume that everything is fine. I want to lead a community where relationships go down deep so that God can bring healing to the heart. Only then can we avoid being shocked by the tragic collapse of lives. I think that more than numbers, leading this kind of a community would be a significant mark of success in ministry.
