The fourth Saturday of each month our church spearheads an effort called "Operation Blessing." Boxes of food are distributed to individuals and families in need. In a typical month 100 boxes are distributed. There is a huge amount of work in making this ministry effective. The food bank is in Oxnard, about 30 miles away. Volunteers drive to Oxnard, load the food (sometimes 2,000 pounds at at time), take reservations, pack the boxes, and distribute the food. Today and Friday will be spent setting up and packing boxes. Operation Blessing meets some very real needs in our community. I believe that it is one of those things that we do that pleases Jesus very much. Thanks to all of the Operation Blessing volunteers and to David and Ruth for their leadership.
